Channel
4 teams up with ZyWeb in new Origination
project.
26th
January, 2005 Devon, UK
ZyWeb,
the do-it-yourself website builder
from Exeter based ZyNet has been selected
as part of a new ORIGINATION
project which is being managed by
Channel 4 and sponsored by Culture
Online called ORIGINATION:
INSITE, a national initiative to celebrate
the experience and contribution of
Britain's incoming cultures.
In
a move to challenge stereotypes and
to encourage members of different
communities to voice their experiences,
ORIGINATION: INSITE
offers a unique opportunity for individuals
and community groups to spotlight
and record - in their very own
websites - the experience of
their community or family’s
arrival in Britain and the positive
ideas, practices, talents and perspectives
they brought with them.
Specific
content will also be developed to
enable KS3 teachers to run projects
within their lessons focusing on Art,
Literature, and Design & Technology.
Workshops
will be provided to some of those
creating their own websites with the
first being run in February in conjunction
with Bristol Museum.
ZyWeb
provides a range of professionally
designed, fully customisable templates,
graphic headings and buttons that
enable a web page to be created easily
within minutes. No web design or technical
skills are needed. There is a built-in
photo editor, photo frames and even
an automatic photo album generator
with thumbnail size images that open
to a full size when the visitor selects
them. ZyWeb users can also trade online
using the e-commerce facility. It
even includes the web hosting.
ZyWeb
is one of the first web site builders
to become accessible to disabled users.
Not only does ZyWeb produce 'accessible'
web pages but it also includes many
features designed to help disabled
users to create their own websites.

you are a member of an immigrant culture
and would like to build your own website
